About Glen, MS - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Glen is a town found in Alcorn County, Mississippi, and as of 2010, the total population was approximately 420. This town is situated nine miles southeast of Corinth, and it was originally founded due to the presence of the Memphis & Charleston Railroad. This community is served by the Alcorn School District, and older students will attend Alcorn Central High School, which is found in Glen.

With such a small population, Glen is not home to any major attractions or things to do. However, Alcorn County is home to several notable sites and destinations. Corinth is the largest community in the county, and visitors can enjoy trips to the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, Borroum’s Drug Store and Soda Fountain, and the Corinth Contraband Camp.  Rienzi, which is also a small community in the county, is home to specialty shops that Glen residents might like to check out, including Suitor’s Meat Company and the Smith Drug Company.

The climate in Glen is characteristic of a humid subtropical zone, and residents will need access to both home heating and cooling systems to utilize at different time of the year. Winters tend to be cool and short, but the season can bring some seriously dramatic temperatures swings. While average high temperatures reach the 50s during this season, there are plenty of days that see thermostat readings that fail to even reach the freezing point. When these conditions occur, it is crucial that residents have access to a heat pump or furnace system to stay warm.

The summer months in Glen are consistently hot and humid. Average high temperatures in July and August reach about 90 degrees, with low temps only falling into the 70s overnight. Without access to a central air conditioning unit, Glen residents could be at risk of suffering from a heat-related illness, so they should be sure to take the more comfortable spring months to have their units serviced.
