Located in Alcorn County, Mississippi, the City of Corinth is the county seat and is home to approximately 14,600 people. This city was founded as Cross City in 1853, as it formerly served as an important junction for the Memphis & Charleston and Mobile & Ohio Railroads. This location made the community important to the Confederate Army throughout the American Civil War. Today, Corinth is located in the northeastern part of the state at the intersections of U.S. Routes 72 and 45, and it consists of 30.3 square miles of total area.
